About

This blog is a repository for interesting stories I find out about my ancestors. I also maintain a Cavers one-name study blog, but this blog is more general than that, covering all my ancestral lines. I’m using it as a place to record interesting genealogical stories I want to keep and return to in future. I also maintain blogs for my Melrose and Coldingham one-place studies, and Viv’s Academic Blog for my general academic musings.

Hi there. Your name rings a bell, I am sure, away in the distant past, that we have been in touch.
I am descended from Thomas Fair c 1715 and Mary Davidson c 1725.
Their daughter Jean Fair c 1758 was married to John Anderson.
Thomas Fair and Mary Davidson’s Headstone is in Bunkle Churchyard.

Hello, I am researching my husband’s mother’s family and came across Robert Cavers (1712-1743) born Melrose, married Janet Wright (born 1716, Melrose). Their daughter, Rabina Cavers was born after the death of her father in April 1744; she married William Murray of Stow. Do you have any connection with these Cavers? Or any knowledge?

    Thanks, Diane Calhoun
